As a photographer, there are few things more awesome than documenting a family over the years. Heidi and Adam were married during our first wedding season as Melissa Miksch Photography, and since then we’ve done several family sessions with them. That first day I was chasing around the flower girl, Heidi’s daughter, who was having fun stealing her new step dad’s sunglasses and cheesing for the camera. Her son was somewhat shy and, as most teenage boys do, wanted as little to do with the camera as possible. Today, I was instead standing in front of a beautiful young lady with a killer smile, and a handsome young college freshman full of confidence. Meanwhile, Heidi and Adam’s love was still as strongly present as ever.
We love becoming our clients’ lifetime photographer! I was chatting with Heidi today about how someday it will be her daughter’s wedding we’ll be shooting, and I know that day will come before we know it (just not too soon, please, Hannah!).
For our session, we decided to take advantage of the post-Christmas snowfall that moved into the pass. We hit up the Steven’s Pass ski area, and braved the cold. Despite almost falling on my butt twice, I managed to move through our session at warp speed and get everyone back in the warmth of their car pretty quickly. It turns out that snow is a good motivator for thinking quickly on your feet, and moving fast! It was a great afternoon, and I’m so blessed to get the privilege of creating these memories for them. Here’s to many more!
