Fall color is one of the best things about the change in seasons. The crisp air moves in, and suddenly all the green gives way to pops of gorgeous yellows, oranges, and reds. I consider myself lucky to live here in the greater Seattle area, where it is generally lush and green most of the year. You don’t have to go far around here to find trees and grass, and that’s a beautiful thing. But the wash of green does tend to lose it’s sparkle after a while, and the the vibrant colors of fall tend to come along just in time.
The last couple years, the colors around here have been changing a bit later than usual. The change overall seems to have been slower. It used to be that we had a window of 2 weeks or so in the middle of October to fit in any family photos for all those Christmas cards. But the weather has been milder these last couple years, and the result has been a longer fall color season that starts a little later. As a photographer, it has been an amazing gift. I’ve been able to extend my availability for family sessions well into November. For the last couple weekends, my favorite local park in Marysville (Jennings Park) has been awash in beautiful tones of gold.
This last weekend I met up with our friends and clients, Chuck and Diane (and their son Liam) for a mini-session to take advantage of the remaining gorgeousness. There was a slight morning fog still lingering, but it decided to burn off nicely just in time!
Here’s some of my favorites from their session!
